Despite remarkable economic growth over recent decades there are millions of people here in the UK, and internationally that struggle to survive. There a millions of people lacking the basic human needs such as food, shelter or even minimal health care.
These are considerable problems that need to be resolved as a society. Most believe that these issues can only be overcome by immense efforts and far-reaching responses.
But here’s the thing – we don’t agree.
Our work has led us to believe that small changes can make a big difference. Small, focussed and effective efforts can be life-changing.
We focus on the small, unseen cases that get missed. We know the bumps and the troughs, the holes and the obstacles in a way that those who live large in the world, despite their best intentions, will never be able to see.
We need to start remembering that society is made up by individuals – if we help the individual, there won’t be the scale of social problems that we face today.
“There comes a point where you need to not just pull people out of the river; you need to go upstream and find out who is pushing them in."
We have not, and don't want to forget those in society that have slipped through the net, and don't have anywhere to turn. Now, more than ever, society needs to figure out how small, but well executed, changes can have the maximum impact.
That's what we do here at Quid Pro Quo - help little donations make massive changes.
